THE BEGINNING
As a young manager, Owen was known for his aggressive and creative management style in St. Louis, Missouri with firms like Coinco and McDonnell Douglas Corporation. By the age of 26, he was in charge of projects in Japan, Germany, and Canada. Then, during its early construction, progress on the famous St. Louis Memorial Arch was halted by a technical problem. Owen was called in, solved the problem in a matter of hours, and the monument was completed on schedule.
Later, after the tragic Apollo One fire, he taught decision-making and problem-solving to fourteen NASA executives from Wernher von Braun's staff, and helped pave the way for the 1969 moon landings. After that, when clinical psychologists said it was "impossible" to program a portion of the human personality into a supercomputer, Owen led them to success anyway. |
And once, when an emergency task force of fifteen weaving and dyeing experts couldn't find the cause of a nationwide textile problem after five weeks of round-the-clock searching, Owen found the cause of the national problem in just one day.
THE TEST AND BOOK
Owen founded SAC -- a management development firm -- in 1971. And in 1980, he was taught the DiSC Profiling technique by Dr. John G. Geier of Performax Systems International, Inc., of Minneapolis -- the author and developer of the original DiSC Personal Profile System. (Performax later became Carlson Learning, and still later became Inscape Publishing.) Owen is now a seasoned senior management consultant with over 35 years of experience -- over 27 years of it with DiSC training in organizations of every kind. He has trained over 30,000 people, and has traveled, taught, and researched in 50 countries. His past clients include such firms as GE, Hilton Hotels, John Deere, Hyatt Hotels, Ingersoll-Rand, SKF Aerospace, Singer, and many universities, government agencies, and non-profits, and he has taught DiSC at the graduate school level in college.
In 1985, Owen wrote the first, original, and definitive full-length book on DiSC personality training, The Specific Action Personality System. The book has now gone through five editions, and has been published in hardback, notebook, and online formats. For years, Owen's book was the only DiSC reference book for clients like GE, Ingersoll-Rand, and John Deere. Today, six of the book's key chapters on people-reading and teamworking (the two most important lessons in corporate team-building!) are available for downloading to Internet clients -- making this the only known online book on DiSC -- and cementing Owen's credentials as one of the most experienced personality training advisors in the U.S.
TODAY'S RESULT

Owen holds a U. S. patent, and his writings have been published in five languages. He's a Certified Management Consultant, and is one of only 475 management consultants worldwide to hold the double honor of also being a Certified Professional Speaker. He has been included in Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World.
In summary, today Owen uses the full range of his DiSC strategic knowledge and experience -- and the full weight of his years in DiSC teaching, consulting, and advising -- to help our Internet clients empower their people for dynamic teamwork through DiSC Profiles. |
