      We say it because in 1980, Owen Allen, founder and president of SAC, learned DiSC Profiling directly from Dr. John G. Geier, and his wife, Dorothy Downey Geier, the people who created the original Personal Profile System®.  In the 27 years since then, Owen has trained over 30,000 people face-to-face with the test (not by tape, film, newsletter, etc.).  He also wrote the first, original, and definitive book on DiSC in 1985 with the Geiers' help.  Today, six chapters of that book are the only known online chapters about DiSC -- and they're available to clients on this site.  Owen has a Ph.D. in organizational behavior with post-doctoral work at Oxford in England.  He's both a certified management consultant and a certified professional speaker, and he has taught DiSC at the graduate school level.  No other known personality trainer has this unique combination of education, seniority, credentials, and experience in the field of DiSC profiles, tests, and reports.  (Also see the "About Us" links on this site.)

3.  "WHY DO YOU BELIEVE THAT DiSC ONLINE

      We believe it because we've found it to be true.  The "Four-Trait Theory" of personality is the first and oldest personality system known in history -- it was discovered by the Greeks in 400 B.C.  More recently, in the 1970s, the ancient system was polished and molded into the original DiSC Personal Profile System® test by Dr. John G. Geier and his wife, Dorothy Downey Geier, of John G. Geier & Associates, Inc., Minneapolis, Minnesota.  The U.S. government funded the Geiers to do national research on DiSC at the time, and after the research was complete in 1977, the Geiers founded Performax Systems International, Inc., to publish the test worldwide.  Later, the Geiers pursued other research, and the rights to the test passed to Carlson Learning, Inc.  Still later, the rights passed to Inscape Publishing, Inc., who has continued to do developmental research, who has brought out many new products, and who has put the products online for international use over the Internet.  Today, over 50 million copies of DiSC tests have been used in over 20 languages in over 40 countries -- which makes DiSC the premier personality training tool on earth.  Finally, dozens of scientific surveys and studies done by government agencies and universities since the late 1970s have proved that the DiSC test is equal to -- and usually exceeds -- the accuracy of any other known personality test.  (Also see the "Products" links on this site.)

      We say it because we think it's true.  For almost 20 years, Dr. John G. Geier, the author of the original Personal Profile System®, and his wife, Dorothy Downey Geier, said that Owen's book, The Specific Action Personality System (written with their help), was the only full-length book on DiSC ever written.  Owen's book was written in a fast-paced, conversational, and humorous style, and was first published as a hardback in 1985 by Delmar Publishing.  Later, the book was published in a notebook format for SAC's clients.  The original book had ten chapters and 190 pages, and went through five editions.  It was filled with true stories about John and Dorothy Geier, stories of Owen's experiences, and little-known charts, tables, and facts showing how to use DiSC for better people-reading and teamworking (the two most important personality training lessons) in organizations.  The hardback and notebook versions of the book are now out of print.  But six of Owen's most vital and interesting chapters on people-reading and teamworking are available to Internet clients on this website -- and they're the only known book chapters available online that show clients how to use the original DiSC profiles as they were originally developed by the Geiers, and as them were originally taught by Performax Systems International.  [ Special Note:  In 2002, Inscape Publishing, Inc., published two paperbacks on the DiSC system written by two of its corporate officers.  However, neither of these books is known to be downloadable online. ]  (Also see "DiSC Books" and "BOOK Downloads" links on this site.)

      It depends on several things.  One of the advantages of using online testing is that there's no legal requirement for Certification.  We supply everything you need on this website.  Also, the DiSC Personality Profile was designed by its author to be the world's first self-scored, self-interpreted personality test!  (It was created to be self-administered by trainees without outside guidance.)  More, when you're a SAC client, we help you select the exact online tests that your people need.  Also, each of your trainees should receive a copy of Dr. J. 10.  "WHAT ARE THE 'CREDITS' THAT INSCAPE
    PUBLISHING USES IN ITS PRODUCT
LIST PRICES?"


      Inscape "Credits" represent cash, and are a way for Inscape to sell tests and reports through its network of Authorized Distributors like us.  On Inscape's current Price List, one "Credit" equals $3.60 U.S. dollars.  Credits are sold to Inscape's Authorized Distributors at wholesale -- but are subtracted from client accounts at List Price.  The difference between these two amounts allows Distributors to offer price breaks to clients if they choose to do so.  (Most don't.  But we do.)  Credits are the "currency" of EPIC accounts.  They never expire, and can be used 24/7 for any EPIC test or report anywhere in the world.  When you order personality tests and reports from us, we notify Inscape to transfer the required number of Credits to your EPIC account and, as you issue Inscape "Test Access Codes" to your employees, Inscape deducts the List Price of the products from your account in Credits.  (Also see the "Credits" links on this website.)

11.  "WHAT DO THE TERMS 'EPIC' AND 'PPSS'
        MEAN ON THE INSCAPE WEBSITE?"


      The terms "EPIC" and "PPSS" come from the new trend toward doing personality training online (over the Internet) -- rather than the old-fashioned paper-and-pencil way.  The acronym EPIC stands for "Electronic Profile Information Center."  And PPSS stands for "Personal Profile Software System."  Our clients click a link on our site to connect directly to EPIC, and to issue personality tests directly to their employees over the Internet.  This avoids the old-time problems of shipping paper-and-pencil tests to test sites, and administering them with professional trainers, with all the expense, time, and wasted effort that the old-fashioned process involved.  (Also see the "TEST Downloads" links on this site.)

12.  "HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO OPEN AN
ACCOUNT WITH SAC AND START
ORDERING?"


      It depends on how you pre-pay your first order.  If you use a credit card or bank draft, we can open your EPIC account in a few hours -- or at most a day or so -- if the transaction is between 8:00 o'clock in the morning and 5:00 o'clock in the evening Central Time, and 9:00 o'clock in the morning and 4:30 o'clock in the evening Eastern time because these are Inscape's and SAC's office hours.  (Inscape and SAC are closed on weekends and national holidays.)  When your pre-payment has cleared, you'll receive an email from Inscape giving you a Link, User ID, and temporary Password to enter their EPIC site and start sending personality tests to your trainees.  Likewise, you'll also receive an email from SAC giving you a Link and a Password to enter the SAC site and start sending personality books to your employees.  If you pre-pay your first order by company check, cashier's check, or money order in snail mail, it'll probably take several days to open your account.  If you pre-pay by company purchase order in snail mail, it'll probably take a week or more to open your account.  But regardless of how you open your account, we're excited about helping you increase team-building and conflict resolution in your organization, and we look forward to serving you!  (Also see "SAC Store" links on this site.)

13.  "HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE INSCAPE CREDITS
TO REACH OUR EPIC ACCOUNT AFTER
WE ORDER FROM YOU?"


      It depends on the method of pre-payment you use to order.  Inscape's procedure is this:  You place an order with us for a given number of DiSC products.  After your pre-payment clears our SAC Store, we contact Inscape and transfer the necessary Credits to your EPIC account.  When these Credits appear in your account, you can immediately issue "Test Access Codes" to your trainees, and they can immediately start downloading tests.  As you issue codes to your trainees, Inscape subtracts the list price of the product in Credits from your EPIC account.  Due to this procedure, if you use a personal or corporate credit card, or a personal or corporate bank draft, your Credits should hit your EPIC account in a few hours -- or at most a few days -- if the transaction is during Inscape's and SAC's office hours. (Inscape's and SAC's offices are closed on weekends and national holidays.)  If you pre-pay by company check, cashier's check, or money order in snail mail, it'll probably take several days for your Credits to be posted.  If you pre-pay by company purchase order in snail mail, it'll probably take a week or more for your Credits to be transferred.  But in all cases, we'll do everything we can to expedite your Credits, and we're anxious to serve you.  (Also see "Credits" links on this site.)

14.  "WHY DO WE HAVE TO PRE-PAY

      We ask clients to pre-pay us for DiSC products because we're required to pre-pay "Credits" at Inscape before Inscape will transfer them to client accounts.  This means that, unless our clients pre-pay us, we would have to carry an extensive "accounts receivable" for our clientele.  And since we're giving the largest known price breaks on the Internet for DiSC products, we don't have the cash reserves to carry "accounts receivables" for our customers.  Thus, we respectfully ask clients to pre-pay for their products, and they very graciously comply.  (Also see "Credits" and "Pricing" links on this site.)

16.  "WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO ORDER ONLY THE
   TESTS WE NEED, AND TO DOWNLOAD
TO OUR EMPLOYEES ONLY THE
TESTS WE'VE ORDERED?"


      There's an old saying that we should "plan our work, and work our plan."  Applying that motto to our website, it's important for clients to order the correct personality tests from us to fulfill their team-building, efficiency, and productivity needs, and to issue those tests to their employees.  Here's why.  There are two "sliding scales" in our products:  First, the number of Inscape Credits for various tests is different.  Second, the price we charge for various quantities is different.  That means that if clients "surf" the Inscape EPIC site and use their Credits to download tests and reports they haven't ordered from us -- they run the risk later of not having the types of tests and reports on hand that they originally planned.  Changes in client needs are understandable, and all clients have the right to download any EPIC test they want until their Credits run out.  But SAC recommends that, for proper quality control, clients avoid "surfing" the EPIC site.  We keep accurate records of the tests our clients buy; and we transfer to our clients' accounts the correct number of Credits for those tests.  So to help us maintain this high level of quality control, we ask clients to also keep accurate records of what they buy and, as far as possible, to download only the tests they've ordered.  (Also see "Credits," "Products," and "Pricing" links on this site.)

17.  "WHY DO YOU SAY A THAT 'DR. JOHN G. GEIER'
     DEVELOPED THE DiSC TEST  --  WHEN I READ
THAT A 'DR. WILLIAM M. MARSTON'
DEVELOPED IT?"


      William Marston and John Geier both worked on the "Four-Trait Personality Theory" that today we call the four DiSC personality traits.  But they worked at different times in different ways.  So we need to define the word "developed."  Marston was a medical doctor in the 1920s who's best known for his work on human blood pressure (his research led to the invention of the "Lie Detector" or "Polygraph").  During his research on blood pressure, Marston published a book in 1928 entitled The Emotions of Normal People, which among other things spelled out an early version of the traits.  Marston called his traits "Compliance, Submission, Inducement, and Dominance."  (C-S-I-D)  Marston never developed or suggested a test, and his book didn't sell well, and wasn't accepted by the psychologists of his day.  Marston died in 1947, his book went out of print, and he was forgotten in history.  That's where John Geier entered the picture.  John had read Marston's out-of-print book during the 1950s, while studying for his Ph.D. in clinical psychology, and he was impressed with Marston's research -- which he felt could be developed into a powerful trait and behavior test.  So in 1972, while John was professor of clinical psychology and director of behavioral sciences at the University of Minnesota, he acquired a three million dollar government grant to research the four traits nationally.  During this period, John founded John G. Geier & Associates, Inc., and by 1977 he had created and copyrighted the original Personal Profile System® test -- using his own names for the traits, which he called "Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Compliance."  (D-i-S-C)  John then founded Performax Systems International, Inc., and began to sell the new test internationally.  The test was an immediate best-seller, and it's been the world's best-seller ever since.  It's also interesting that, in 1979, John bought the rights to Dr. William M. Marston's out-of-print book, and re-published the book through Performax, making Dr. Marston famous fifty years after his death.  John is also the person who developed what today we call the fifteen "Classical Profile Patterns" in personality.  Finally in 1994, John and his wife, Dorothy Downey Geier, decided to pursue private research, and the rights to DiSC passed to Carlson Learning Company, Inc.  Still later, the rights passed again to Inscape Publishing, Inc., whose digital version of that original test is now called the DiSC Classic® 2.0, and whose new upgraded version of the test is called the DiSC® PPSS General Characteristics Report.  To summarize:  Both Marston and Geier worked on the "Four-Trait Personality Theory."  Marston worked on it theoretically during his blood pressure experiments.  But it was John G. Geier who made personality test history -- and it was John who taught DiSC personality training to our founder, Owen Allen in 1980, and who helped him write his book on DiSC personality training in 1985.  (Also see "DiSC Books" and "About Us" links on this site.)

18.  "WE DON'T HAVE A TRAINING DEPARTMENT.  CAN
YOU DOWNLOAD THE DiSC TESTS AND
BOOKS FOR OUR PEOPLE?"


      Yes.  But we ask clients to download their own DiSC products if they can -- even if they must teach one of their employees how to do so.  This gives their trainees an internal person to contact with problems, and it also encourages internal discussion of DiSC -- which is very important to its use.  However, we realize that some organizations are too small, or for other reasons don't want to handle their own downloads.  So, for an "Optional Administrative Fee" of $10.00 per test, report, or other item to be downloaded, we're happy to download products for our clients.  Clients wanting this service should click the "11. Administrative Fee" category on our "Products" page -- or in our SAC Store -- to add this fee to their purchase.  (This fee is also subject to our volume price scale, as all of our products are.)  Clients are then asked to contact us by phone, email, or fax to negotiate an agreement spelling out exactly what tasks they want us to perform, and exactly what EPIC settings they want used with their products.

19.  "WE DON'T HAVE A TRAINING DEPARTMENT OR

      Yes.  We always want clients to interpret their own DiSC profiles if they can.  But we realize that some organizations are too small, or for other reasons don't want to interpret their own profiles.  For example, we have some temp and employment agencies who prefer not to interpret their own tests.  So, we offer a "Profile Interpretation Service" for $24.95 per test, report, or other item to be interpreted, and we're pleased to do this for clients.  Clients wanting this service should click the "15.
